3) Donate to the Central Honduras Education Fund - Thank you for your support of higher education in Honduras!
The cost to support a student for one year of university study is approximately $1500 – $1800. On average, it takes a student 5 years to complete their degree, making the total cost of supporting a university student $7500 – $9000. The difference in student yearly costs (~$1500 – $1800) is generally based on a students decision to live in the capitol city Tegucigalpa or commute from their rural hometown to the capitol, where the two main universities in Central Honduras are located. The decision to commute or rent an apartment is entirely up to the student and his or her family. In either case, they are fully funded for transportation or rental costs. For example, our Scholar Saira is currently renting a room in Tegucigalpa, where she lives with several other University students.
