Aaron grew up in Elwood, Illinois surrounded by corn and bean fields. He attended Marquette University and studied Business Administration. His business minded aspirations were cut short by a study abroad stint in San Sebastian, Spain. This was the first time he stepped foot out of the United States, and quite frankly, it put a twist in his career plans and path of life. Inspired by a new interest for cultures, service and a bit of adventure, Aaron embarked on the first of two Peace Corps services after graduating college. He served as a Family Hillside Farming volunteer in Central Honduras from 2002-2004 and later as a Habitat Conservation volunteer in the Ecuadorian Amazon from 2006-2008. Today, Aaron is grateful to the communities that opened their arms to him and taught him endless life lessons. Currently, Aaron is completing his MA thesis at the University of Arizona in Latin American Studies. Aaron’s concentration concerns power and inequality, especially small scale farming populations of Latin America. Aaron hopes to continue working with rural farmers of Latin America upon graduation.
What is the Central Honduras Education Fund?
The Central Honduras Education Fund was established in 2005 to provide full academic scholarships to rural Honduran students wishing to earn a college degree in Honduras. In 2010 we expanded our support to include students wanting to complete a high school degree.
In addition to academic achievement, our vision is for Scholars to become self-sufficient and productive citizens, positively contributing to the development and capacity of their rural Honduran communities.
Our organization is currently supporting 15 students in their pursuit of either a high school (12 students) or college (3 students) degree in Honduras.
"La Fundación Educativa de Honduras Central es una organización autónoma, sin fines de lucro, apolítica y que busca la excelencia academica Hondurena."
